New Reception September 2023 (2023/2024 Academic year)

Reception Children September 2023 (2023/2024 Academic year)

We are delighted that you and your child are joining Hambrough Primary School this coming September.  On behalf of the Staff, Governors, children and parents, it gives me great pleasure to welcome you and your family to our school community.

We will be holding a Reception induction /meeting in June to talk you through our school routines and expectations, and share key information with you about starting school process and how to support the children with their transition to our school.

Please rest assured we will do everything we can to ensure that each child has a smooth transition and support they need to begin their learning journey with us at Hambrough Primary School.

Transition

We will be talking to pre-school and nursery settings, as we always do, to find out where your child is in their learning. We will also be talking to you directly to find out about your child's preferences; things they particularly enjoy, find difficult etc. These conversations will take place within the context of a stay and play visit to school and  a home/setting visit in July.

The links below have some useful resources to support with transition.

We hope that the information on this page will answer many of the questions that you have about your child starting school with us in September and assure you that we will write to you in the coming weeks with further details about your child's induction.

All parents will receive a letter from Mrs Singleton welcoming you to the school.

We look forward to meeting you all soon.

Mrs Bhadye - EYFS Lead

THE ROAD TO SCHOOL

What does it mean to be school ready?

ADMISSION TO PRIMARY SCHOOL

Dear Parent / Carer

It is my great pleasure to welcome you and your child to Hambrough Primary School. Choosing your child’s primary school is a difficult task and we are privileged that you have placed your trust in us to educate your child for the next seven years of their lives.

During your child’s time with us they will learn, grow, develop and flourish in all manner of things from academic achievement, self-esteem, social interactions, musical talents, sporting opportunities and become a well-rounded individual.

At Hambrough we will work in partnership with you as parents and carers to raise your child to be a happy, successful, independent and responsible learner who respects themselves and others within the community in which they live.

I would like to introduce you to the Reception class teachers. Mrs Bhadye is our EYFS Lead and Yellow Class teacher. Ms Kang is our Orange Class teacher. We also have teaching assistants working across both classes, all of whom you will be able to meet at a later date.

In the summer term we will hold a parents’ meeting and carry out some informal inductions with you and your child in your home environment. We will arrange with you a suitable date and time for a home visit.

Here are some of the activities and events we are putting in place that will aid you and your child to get to know us and the school a little better.

  • On the school website www.hambrough.ealing.dbprimary.com under the pupil zone area, click on the “Starting Reception – 2023/2024” tab, you will find some information, ideas and activities on how to begin to get your child ‘school ready’.
  • There are also PowerPoints and other documents for you to download that we would have used during our parent meetings for you to go through to be more informed of what to expect in September.
  • Mrs Bhadye will be contacting your child’s pre-school, for those children not joining us from Hambrough Nursery, to find out a little about your child before they start with us in September.
  • You and your child are also asked to join us for a meet and greet session on the 3rd July from  3.45 – 4.45pm where you will be able to explore the Reception classroom and outdoor provision. .

You will be a need to order uniform ready for September. Required items with the school logo are available from Fashion Mark School Wear, 18 High Street, Southall. Other standard items are best purchased from high street stores and supermarkets. Here is the website link to the school’s uniform page:

All other letters of communication, advice and support giving details of dates and timings plus other vital information will be included in your child’s admission pack. Please note that start dates will be staggered across the first week of September.

We are really looking forward to meeting both yourselves and your child and hope you stay well, healthy and safe. In the meantime, please do not hesitate to contact me if you have any queries.
